This book started out being quite funny.
I have listened to Karl on the podcasts he does with Steve and Ricky and often there are mentions of things in the book that I have previously heard on the podcasts; this automatically makes them hilarious as I could hear him saying it. Refresh and try again. Luckily, furfher memory has the ability to hold some memorable quotes in this book, so I will never forget the things that made me laugh here. What a perfect pair of idiots”.
I had no idea who this ‘Karl Pilkington’ was, but the cover, illustrations and the fact that its about ‘traveling’ made me to choose it when thinking about how to spend my left-over rupees. Most of each episode focuses on Pilkington’s reactions adventurees cultural differences and idiosyncrasies in the countries he visits. The very first episode of An Idiot Abroad aired on 23 September at 9: I bought this book in a bookstore and i thought it would be just a normal book About a guy traveling the world and following a bucket list. Frank, funny and strangely inspiring, this is Karl’s final word on travel.
I got a few adventrues chuckles out of his first book, but this was still quite entertaining.
It was released through Canongate Books. I have to say, this installment of the Idiot Abroad series didn’t tickle me quite as much as its predecessor.
I also really liked the TV show, which was the main reason I wanted to read this.

In each “Lost Luggage” segment, Gervais and Pilkington hold a short discussion. But that’s Karl, it wouldn’t have been the same having some happy-go-lucky, smiley cheerful fella doing all of this! An Idiot Abroad is ridiculously pilkingron and even when it’s clear that Gervais and Merchant—pulling the strings back home in England and communicating with Pilkington via cell phone some of these exchanges are scripted and sound added post-production, since cell coverage is not available in remote areas —are having a cruel laugh, it’s nearly impossible not to fall apart laughing at poor Pilkington’s fate.
