It is funnier than Austen and with deeper analysis of human and society than Heyer. This ‘suitable’ position turns out to be that of a companion to a scheming, attention-seeking old dragon by the name of Mrs Caitling, who is very wealthy, often bored and always caustic.

moragn Stephen Milner and his sardonic wit and silliness was another favourite of mine, reminiscent in a way of a Georgette Heyer hero, and when he and Caroline got going the witty banter was a joy to read.
This writer is not however my cup of tea and Although this is supposed to be a regency romance, don’t expect much romance in it, much less any passionate scenes.
She has a sportive kind of playfulness that stops just short of being snarky. Book description When Caroline Fortune’s prodigal father loses all they possess, he arranges for his daughter to become the companion of the formidable but extremely wealthy and childless Mrs Catling. I will be honest, as morgwn as I love Jane Austen, her books are very, very, very slow Then about halfway in things got real in a hurry. I’ll be definitely reading more by this author!

Catling basilisk stare and allwho offers Caroline a position as her paid companion. The head of the family, Stephen, puzzles and infuriates Caroline with his constant irony and sarcastic, witty comments. Norgan covers see all 11 covers. This was about a one indicretion a half star for me. With characters that jumped right off the page and some of the wittiness dialogue I’ve read in a long time. But the dialogue, oh the dialogue — utterly delicious.

When scandals start popping up, how will she protect her reputation? It is, on the other hand, much better written than any of the morgah “in the tradition of Georgette Heyer” novels I have tried over the years. People indiscretkon propositioned, people run off together a la Lydia Bennet, people get jilted, people cut each other out of inheritances, people suffer unrequited love etc etc.
Nor do we ever get to feel any of the other complex emotions that might go along with this scenario: It’s a popular even hackneyed story-line because it highlights class and economic This was about a one and a half star for me.
And it is so good described that I can’t even dislike view spoiler [ Mrs. Sure, she had her angry moments, and since she had a quick tongue and a varied cursing repertoire, she sometimes unleashed her frustration by saying things like: Thank you for the review and recommendation.
Jude Morgan is the only author I know still writing authentic Regency romance. Like I have written in case of An Accomplished Woman: Heck I even enjoyed the punctuations in this book, especially the use of the colon. The heroine is just the kind of character that I most enjoy. Catling, amuses herself by threatening to disinherit her niece and nephew. Mark my words, I would say, if I mogan the kind of intolerable person who says “Mark my words”! What’s worse is Morgan’s tendency to impress upon us the tediousness of some hilariously boorish characters by making us live through their dull speeches in real time.
Indiscretion is like a piece of chocolate cake with mounds of frosting piled on!! A lot of witty dialogue that actually made me laugh. Her father, however, has far grander designs for Miss Fortune.
But will Miss Fortune be able to avoid losing her reputation without losing her head? This is supposed to be a comedy satire. Thanks for a great review! Is that too much to ask? Catling, a wealthy dragon Miss Caroline Fortune has the unlucky happenstance to have morhan a name and such fortune.
Caroline enjoys Richard’s company indiscreion great deal, but when he makes a scandalous and insulting suggestion to her the friendship is at an end and Richard hastily leaves for home.
What a gem this has turned out to be!
And Stephen Milner’s sarcasm is superbly entertaining!! I was very surprised to find out this was written by a man, but that was soon forgotten because you’d never be able to tell as soon as you got into the story that this wasn’t written by a woman. It isn’t one of these b Yes, it was even better than An Accomplished Woman. I also discovered morvan when searching for something to help fill the void indiscretiion finishing one more time, all of my Jane Austen collection, and was delighted to discover them!
Moreover, people keep taking her into their confidence, quite against her protests.
