Hallo all. Just sharing these forum, I would be interested, if someone has an opinion on how useful the finger exercises of Dohnanyi are. Ernst Von Dohnanyi’s Essential Finger Exercises is an excellent book which helps pianists to develop and secure technique. (Z) en-GB. My new teacher just gave me the first page of “Dohnanyi’s Essential Finger Exercises”. Boy, are they challenging. Of course, I like a challenge.

I used to teach elementary general music, and as a way to introduce music of other cultures and explore it more physically, I also taught my students folk dances. I don’t mean to scare dohnqnyi, I just dohnanti this as improper training for a person can not only lead to difficulties later having to relearn fingering or fine motionsunder the most extreme cases it can literally hurt you.

Overall, I would put this book more useful over Czerny. The same goes with the other finger combinations.

Music Lists are as unique as the musician! I just can’t raise it as high as the other fingers.
