Apr 07, Marco rated it really liked it. Amasons, there’s much to be said too much to get into here about how masculinist the supposed female viewpoint here tends to be. You saw it, folks. Jan 25, Matthew Gallaway rated it it was amazing. But the book as a whole is kind of an eh.
This novel sits at an interesting point in DeLillo’s career. They go even further by demanding that Cleo wear a veil hirdwell next season.
He thinks birdwsll does, but it’s painfully obvious during the long stretches in this book that he doesn’t. It had that glossy look. Yes, there are a few funny moments of social satire and a few characteristic metafictive reflections; however, they’re just too few and far between. Then there’s Shaver Stevens, an ex-hockey man himself and very much Cleo’s equal. New on the Twitter whirlygig: Oct 06, David rated it did not like it.
For Cleo Birdwell, however, those roads all lead to the bedrooms, bathrooms, and barns where she has the sex that makes up the bulk of the book. At the end of AmazonsCleo is alone in her Arab-owned apartment, tending anxiously to the sleeping body of her sort-of-boyfriend after getting drunk and forgetting where smazons left him.
