The best way I can describe this book is what might have happened if Charlie Colfeer went to high school. Families can talk about the culture of their own teens’ high school. Nicholas, horrified, begs Carson not to tell anyone since his rich family would disapprove of his homosexuality.

I didn’t let this setback discourage my mission though, blaming my hometown’s incompetence to understand it rather than the oddity of the piece itself. He wants to do anything that will allow him to leave Clover, his bland hometown.
Everything from then on was a perfect storm, no pun intended. Shakespeare once wrote that life is but a dream – and that’s exactly how I live my life, from one dream to the next, hating every update of reality. He was so genuine and I could visualize Carson roaming the halls of my high school, all dressed up in his pencil costume.
It was a pretty good story line of the main character Carson blackmailing people to be on his newspaper. Hell, most people are usually assholes.

He was well, most definitely not Kurt Hummel! Otherwise you become victim to someone you’re not. But as I continue reading this book,I cannot hide the underlying sympathy Lighnting feel for Carson,and the great ligytning I especially admired about him. Carson’s guidance counselor Angela Kinsey informs him that one way to improve his chances of getting into Northwestern is to submit a literary magazine in order to show he can inspire others to write.
Carson is a bit like Holden from Catcher in the Rye, you love him sometimes and hate him at other times.

It takes over three days for people to find Carson’s body. There is some wickedly dark humour in here which I love, especially pertaining to high school, but in the end the story seems to have no purpose.
