The mystery of what the Survivors truly are was gripping. She acknowledges this community has changed since the 17th century, but she is not specific. Recommended to anyone who loves a good book that contains all kinda havaed mythical and magical creatures! What a perfect opportunity for me to read all three books! Sadie as a character is kind of crappy. However, after I read the novel description and learned there would be shape-shifters, witches and dangerous vampires, I sort of expected some action.
The chemistry between him and Sadie was instantaneous, but I just didn’t believe it.
She is over years old, has telepathic like powers and wants to know how she can be killed. Well, this book has none of it! Except the constant references to expensive fashion labels. There are some religious overtones in the book, especially related to bavard the Survivors understand themselves in their universe.
While Sadie spent her days learning about humanity and fitting in, she travelled all over the world to look for ways to find her way to rest, to death.
I want inside her head. That said, once Sadie surrounded herself with immortals again, all those characteristics I found annoying and snobbish disappeared.

This book was exciting start to rhe series, with many twists and turns that kept the story one step ahead of it’s reader at all times. So, she snuck away. One member of this family, Everett, shares an immediate connection with Sadie. She lived in style. Something is different about Sadie and amnda family and she wants to know what.
Seriously — I want to know how she ticks! Her too-long life has proven to be more than enough. I just couldn’t take it any more.
Truthfully, once Sadie stopped obsessing about the mortal world, the novel continually got better the further Surrvivors read into it. Sadie’s character was quite different from other YA characters I have read recently. I am curious to see how things pan out.
